As Sony moves toward ending physical game sales in January 2028, it’s time to give players a true digital ownership option.

Sony should introduce a Digital Game Exchange where players can resell eligible digital games they no longer play. Just like trading in physical games, users could list their digital titles in the PlayStation Store, and Sony could take a percentage of every sale. The buyer would receive the game license, while the seller would earn PlayStation Store credit or cash, depending on the program.

This would benefit everyone. Gamers would regain value from their digital purchases instead of having them locked to their accounts forever. Buyers could purchase pre-owned digital games at lower prices. Sony would generate revenue from every resale transaction, creating an ongoing source of income that doesn’t exist today.

If physical game sales are ending, digital ownership should evolve as well. A Digital Game Exchange would be a consumer-friendly innovation that rewards player loyalty while creating a sustainable marketplace for the future of gaming.

The future of gaming shouldn’t just be digital—it should give players more freedom with the games they buy. @Sony @PlayStation
