In ELA, Ss were asked to create Pandemic Portraits, displaying the items that they heavily replied upon during this time of quarantine. Thanks to these Ss who were willing to give us a glimpse into their lives.#hmsvt#bsdvt@BTVSchools@HuntMiddleVT
We're so proud of our Team Phoenix representatives of the Social Justice Club who took the time to educate us all on the legacy of Treyvon Martin. #bsdvt#hmsvt@BTVSchools@HuntMiddleVT
Day 2. Ss synthesized their different understandings of sustainability into one group definition. One mod was even able to agree upon a whole class definition. They showed great critical thinking and effective communication skills. #hmsvt#bsdvt@BTVSchools@HuntMiddleVT
Yesterday we worked on building a definition of sustainability. Ss learned from each other during a Quote Block Party and then heard from some experts in the field, continuously refining their understanding of the concept. #hmsvt#bsdvt@BTVSchools@HuntMiddleVT
Every Friday in Global Citizenship, we learn about and discuss current events. Each week, there is a student-led current event based on something they find significant. This week's Ss chose to discuss the @BTVSchools HS girls' soccer team and the #equalpay movement.
At the end of the GMA video, my students clapped, heartily. These young women became role models to my students. My male students were speaking out in favor of this movement. My student-athletes felt empowered to use their platform for a cause.
Once they could use artifacts from this civilization, they were slightly better able to put together the story of this fictional civilization. Finally, they got written evidence and were able to discuss the importance of systems of writing to our understanding of history.
Ss working through their frustration as they attempted to be archaeologists, using only pictographs to determine what they could about a fictional ancient civilization. #hmsvt#bsdvt@HuntMiddleVT@BTVSchools
@repjohnlewis & @andrewaydin, my students are taking you up on your offer to respond to their Qs (after the presentation in Burlington, VT earlier this week.) Here they come:
