@frostbyte2707 The problem with doing things like adding extra surge to kills is it over complicates surge a lot. The mechanic has to be understandable to a general audience at a basic level. Its the same reason why solutions like making shotgun damage count for more can't work.
I genuinely don't understand the hate behind this. Does net surge have problems yes. But why are we talking like surge trading wouldn't literally kill the game. Oh its removing the skill gap, what skill gap, sitting in a tower with your trading buddy for 3 zones.
๐จ All BR tournaments will now use a new Storm Surge calculation of Net Damage instead of Damage Dealt.
Net Damage = Damage Dealt - Damage Taken
Only damage between 2 players counts towards this. The player caps remain the same as before, and the teams with the lowest Net Damage will be at risk of getting damaged by Storm Surge.
@frostbyte2707 There is a skill to trading for sure but rewarding that skill seems really dumb. Chapter 6 season 3 is an interesting case study because the top teams mostly didn't trade and exploited how comfortable teams were trading. This trend pretty sharply reversed in globals though tbh.
@PeanutBrainTS In theory with net surge you shouldnt loose your surge cause if your negative surge you shouldnt be rewarded for dying. If punishing teams offspawn who loose their offspawn fight more is the tradeoff we need to get rid of surge trading then I am all for it
๐จ We're testing an update to Storm Surge
It will change from total damage dealt to net damage (damage dealt minus damage taken) in Performance Evaluation Cups from October 2.
For clarification:
The only damage that counts is damage dealt/taken between players who arenโt downed. Playersโ net damage will count through the entire game even after being eliminated or rebooted.
