@Weinrich201 @KSHB41 @CassieKSHB I have seen a tornado, on the ground, plain as day, without sirens going off. This was in Nebraska.

Normally it's the local emergency manager's office that presses the red button to sound the sirens, not the NWS.

Sirens are also designed for people outside to hear, not inside.

@Weinrich201 @KSHB41 @CassieKSHB Unfortunately, you can have tornadoes without a tornado warning. Last night was a bow echo. These can produce tornadoes unpredictably, without warning.
