Open Letter to India Today Group

You invited Laura Loomer — a person infamous for her hateful anti-Muslim rants — and gave her a prime stage at the India Today Conclave 2026.

You let her spit venom against Muslims and the Muslim world.

You designed the show with screens, banners and framing that painted Muslims as terrorists.

You amplified one-sided opinions from anti-Muslim voices while giving zero balance.

You pushed the dangerous narrative that the US-Israel-Iran conflict is actually a joint war against Muslims, with India as a partner.

Some Muslims working inside your channel stayed silent or even participated in this staged spectacle. That hurts the most.

You completely ignored the 200+ million Indian Muslims who live peacefully in this country and reduced an entire community to security stereotypes.

Even Loomer’s selective apology for her past racist remarks against Indians felt fake. Her real agenda — “Israel First” imported into India to manufacture hate against Muslims — went unchallenged.

This was not journalism. This was a deliberate attempt to polarise and spread Islamophobia.
India Today, drop the fake secular mask.

Stop providing platforms to hate-mongers.
Stop shaping narratives that serve fascist and racist forces.

Start including diverse Muslim voices instead of demonising them.

Your audience is watching.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.

It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.

It is quite clear that the Modi govt did not want to defend the UGC regulations. This is clear from the fact that they allowed upper caste protests against them (even when protestors abused Modi & Shah), unlike their clampdown on Other protests (even against pollution)
The SG Mehta (who was present) didn’t make any effort to defend the regulations in the SC, & had no problem with the SC staying them.
