This is Gary — Glen Hansard’s brother — from the funeral today. He says a few words and then sings. It’s absolutely gorgeous and very moving.
I haven’t seen this one and a couple of people were asking for it. Definitely worth a watch. ❤️

(3/3) With decades of Western policy consensus callously swept aside, European nations must now do everything within their power to preserve Ukraine’s sovereignty and repel Russia’s aggression.
Johnson goes on Channel 4 purely to promote his book (only mentioned it once or twice 🤷♀️!) then squirms uncomfortably when the whole panel challenges him 😂

Oh Alice Perkins, what a role,
Chair of the Post Office, but boy what a toll!
No governance skills, yet there you presided,
Steering the ship, but oh so misguided.
Your husband Jack, he knew the game,
Of covering up and shifting blame.
With dark arts mastered, side by side,
While justice for victims was cast aside.
The Post Office Scandal, a dreadful tale,
Where truth and fairness blinded to fail,
And in the chair, you played your part,
But where’s the conscience, where’s the heart?
No business savvy, yet entitled to sneer,
While lives were shattered, year after year.
But those who suffered, they won’t forget,
The pain, the loss, the lingering debt.
So Alice Perkins, take your place,
In history’s book, with no embrace,
For justice delayed is justice denied,
And in the end, there’s no place to hide.
🎶I DON'T RECALL🎶
I don't recall, I don't recall,
A phrase that echoes throughout Whitehall.
A shield for those who twist the truth,
And memory's a fickle sleuth.
🎶🎶🎶
I don't recall, oh, what a plea,
For those who'd rather not agree.
A convenient lapse of mind,
The truth's elusive, hard to find.
🎶
The witness stands, with eyes downcast,
The questions come, a probing blast.
But memory fails, the details fade,
A fog descends, a murky shade.
🎶🎶🎶
I don't recall, oh, what a plea,
For those who'd rather not agree.
A convenient lapse of mind,
The truth's elusive, hard to find.
🎶
The Inquiry waits, with bated breath,
For truth to be plumbed from the depth.
But memory's a slippery slope,
And "I don't recall" gives liars hope.
🎶🎶🎶
I don't recall, oh, what a plea,
For those who'd rather not agree.
A convenient lapse of mind,
The truth's elusive, hard to find.

What's happened to the European Project and the lens that we are looking down?
Scathing contribution from the Leas Ceann Comhairle leaves the Public Expenditure Minister Pascal Donoghue squirming.
We're waiting for our big sisters and brothers in Europe to tell us what to do, oh yes we are. And you're going to vote for Von der Leyen -@catherinegalway

The legendary origin of the phrase "chancing your arm" is a brilliant story from Dublin in 1492. The Butlers of Ormonde and the FitzGeralds of Kildare were involved in a violent land feud. The Butlers retreated to the sanctuary of St Patrick's Cathedral, with the FitzGeralds in hot pursuit.
A standoff took place, the Fitzgeralds refusing to leave till the Butlers surrendered. However, the Butlers feared they'd be massacred by their sworn enemies if they left the sanctuary.
To break the stalemate and show his sincerity to let the Butlers surrender peacefully, Gerald Fitzgerald cut a hole in the chapterhouse door and put his empty sword arm through as a gesture of peace.
The Butlers saw the honour of the act of Fitzgerald "chancing his arm," and their leader shook Fitzgerald's hand. Both families left the cathedral in peace. The "Door of Reconciliation" is still on display in St Pat's to this day.
