I second this! I've been saying this to my students, postdoc is nothing but a glorified PhD. Nothing else. Your independence and peace of mind is at stake, takes years to regain the confidence that one's lost.

An entry level Research associate gets paid significantly higher than an Assistant Professor with multiple years of experience in teaching and research in private univs in India. Sad state of affairs with no signs of hope.
Fees are skyrocketing, but salaries not even linear!

Have you ever thought about the disparity in the pay scales of UGC vs privates? Has the UGC, a statutory body ever taken any steps to bridge this gap? PhD degree may not guarantee teaching quality, but would certainly improve research accumen. #hopeless

Even chameleon changes color less often than UGC. Between 2020 and 2023, you've changed the criterion at least 4 times. In this mad pursuit, so many people had their lives turned upside down. Neither r u helping the PhD completed ones nor the non-PhD candidates.
