A man who lived a life of heroic virtue until the end, and whose good works continue. May the cause for his beatification begin.

Wonderful news. May I recommend Essay Toward A Grammar of Assent to all of you, as a pinnacle of philosophical writing in general and Catholic philosophy in particular?
More on Tuam from the official report (again please read to the end!). An inspection of the home was carried out by a Dept of Health employee in 1947. She was Alice Litster. This is key: Litster was from a Church of Ireland background, and a socialist, and therefore no apologist for the nuns. She looked into the high death rate at the time. She reported that the infants ‘received good care in the Children’s Home...The Bon Secours Sisters being careful and attentive and excellent diets were available’, and ‘It is not here that we must look for the cause of the death rate’. She complained about Galway County Council not letting women into the home before the 7th month of pregnancy, by which time they were often in poor health. She also blames the lack of an isolation unit, and this lack contributed to the spread of disease. The Council had not provided money for this. (My comment: once again we see the extreme simplicity of the 'monstrous nuns' narrative).
Everything good and true and beautiful in our culture comes from Our Lord via the Catholic faith—every heave of bosom in symphony, the ache of every brush stroke, the line of every exquisite and vaulting arch as it soars toward Heaven. Read a fucking book @JoelWBerry
@AcademicAgent_X Western civilization is the greatest known to man, period.
Western civilization exists because Jesus Christ's Church in the West mediaited a synthesis of Roman culture and the folkways of the Germanic tribes.
Today we pay tribute to the Polish soldiers who fought for "your freedom and ours". On 21 July 1943, the 2nd Polish Corps was formed from units of the Polish Army in the East under the command of General Władysław Anders.
Listen to the song "Czerwone maki na Monte Cassino". Its lyrics were written by Feliks Konarski, a soldier of the 2nd Polish Corps in the West.
Glory to the heroes!
If I were in the Vatican diplomatic corps, every time I was in touch with Israel I’d mention Christian churches and safeguarding civilians, and every time I was in touch with any Palestinian leader I’d mention releasing hostages immediately and without condition.
Anca and I were grateful and touched to receive the highest blessing today, from His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV on the 56th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. What an honor! We prayed for good health, long life, and prosperity for all humankind. #PopeLeoXIV
This evening, 56 years after the Apollo 11 moon landing, I spoke with the astronaut Buzz Aldrin. Together we shared the memory of a historic feat, a testimony to human ingenuity, and we reflected on the mystery and greatness of Creation.
Bad News For Communists In Poland: The IPN Bros Are Taking Over The Polish Presidency.
Polish President-Elect Karol Nawrocki, still the President of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN*), is assembling his presidential chancellery team. Nawrocki has already chosen trad Catholic lad, former IPN historian and expert on all things secret services - Sławomir Cenckiewicz - to be the next head of the National Security Bureau*
We are so back 🇵🇱
* The Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) is a Polish state research institute that investigates and prosecutes Nazi and Communist crimes committed between 1917 and 1990, documents its findings, and disseminates them to the public.
* The National Security Bureau (BBN) is a body providing aid and support to the President of the Republic of Poland in executing security and defence tasks.
Yes, the obvious implications of Cana are that 1). we can ask Mary to approach Jesus on our behalf, 2). Jesus' supposed rebuke actually underscores Mary's importance ("Woman" being an allusion to Eve, whose disobedience was reversed by Mary's obedience), and Mary's direction to the waiters--"Do whatever He tells you to do" are the same as her directions to us.
Marian veneration doesn't contradict the worship of Christ; it complements. The reason Mary is venerated is that she is the Mother of God; Jesus Christ is wholly divine.
If evangelicals cite Athanasius against Arius, shouln't they recognize that Athanasius venerated Mary as well?
A solution to the Catholic liturgy wars: reinstate Summorum Pontifcum and abrogate Traditionis Custodes, with this proviso: anyone who publicly denigrates either the Ordinary or the Extreme Form of the one RomanRite, or states that or states that one Form or the other, is inherently inferior or deficient, is subject to excommunication.
That is how the Pope got the Dominicans and Jesuits to end their destructive quarrels regarding predestination.
With journalist Diane Montagna’s publication of the alleged concluding section of the DDF’s report on the bishops’ survey, it is now hard to see how the suppression of the Latin Mass was done in good faith. | @LMSChairman
