A huge thank you for the generous donations following our Christmas Concerts that have allowed every class to choose and buy some new and updated books for their classrooms. It is lovely to see and hear the excitement that the new books have created—thank you! #readingforpleasure
This week has seen the launch of our work with @myHappymind_ across school. This will complement the great work that we already do in personal development and well-being. We have loved meeting H.A.P. this week and are all very excited about the learning still to come…
Children had a very busy morning earlier this week in the Victorian version of our school. They spent the morning learning the 'three rs', doing 'drill', playing with a hoop and stick, creating thaumotropes and making peppermint creams - bringing learning to life!
Thank you to the residents at Mickle Hill for their warm welcome this morning as our Mini Sing Squad performed beautifully a selection of Christmas songs. The children did a fabulous job - well done everyone!
Our children have had a fabulous time on their journey through time at @YorkCastle. They have loved exploring the museum but, in particular, the Victorian style street done out to celebrate the festive season! A huge well done to our children for their amazing curiosity!
We were all very excited to welcome Pantosaurus to school this week! Children in Reception to Year Two were joined by Emma to share a fun filled assembly reminding us all about the @NSPCC PANTS rule. Important rules to keep our children safe. Lots of fun and lots of learning.
Our sensory garden is full of fruit and vegetables after all of the hard work last term! The children have enjoyed tasting the tomatoes. What a difference it makes when you grow your own! #OutdoorLearning#NatureEducation
After a great start to the new school year for our Reception, Year One and Two children, it has been fabulous to welcome and welcome back our Nursery children. They have been busy making friends, getting to know their adults and learning areas and learning through their play!
We are proud to be a Platinum Standard OPAL School, which means we have achieved the highest level of quality in our @OPAL_CIC work. Families are invited to come and have a look round to share this with their children after school on Thurs 18th Sept for our OPAL Stay and Play.
There has been a fabulous transformation over the summer in our school grounds! A huge thank you to everyone who gave so much time to get our trim trail back up and running, to relocate our palatial looking mud kitchen and to install some new roll over bars! The children love it!
What a fantastic start the children have had to the new school year! It has been lovely to welcome back lots of our children and families to school and to welcome new children and their families. We are proud that the children have got back to their learning and play so quickly.
A huge thank you to @ryedalelions for their kind donation enabling us to purchase new iPads. These are used for teaching our Computing curriculum and supporting learning across a range of subjects. Badger Class used them to record seasonal changes during their Summer Walk.
A fabulous day was had by all on our Reception visit to Filey today! The children talked with such enthusiasm about their experiences when they returned. The children, as ever, did themselves proud with their amazing attitudes and behaviour!
What a creative bunch our children are! Our reception children managed to load a lot of coal into the tender of their fabulous train and there was a lot of problem solving and teamwork with our giant skip over line. Great @OPAL_CIC adventures!
With support from @KingspanIns_UK, we have started our 'tasting table' for Years 1 & 2. So far children have tried kiwi, radish, pineapple and mango. The reactions have been mostly positive from the children and they are looking forward to other tasty treats in the coming weeks!
Thanks to support from @KingspanIns_UK, our 'Seed to table' project has really taken off. The children have plated a wide range of fruit and veg seeds to nurture over this coming half term. Hopefully, some of it will be ready to harvest for our family pizza morning in July!
The children did themselves proud today with their effort, resilience and positive attitudes for sports day! I think that this year saw our fastest two legged race ever! An amazing afternoon. It was a pleasure to share with so many family members and friends!
The children in Years 1 and 2 thoroughly enjoyed their visits to Pickering Castle last week - a great start to their learning about castles. Thank you to all of those family members who were able to join us! The children were amazing and a real credit to all - well done!
We are well underway with @VegPowerUK and their #EatThemToDefeatThem campaign. The children have so far demolished the peppers, carrots and, this week, peas! There have been mixed responses but everyone has been joining in to get chomp through all of the vegetables!
This has to be our star design for this half term for the large loose parts! An amazing giant 'marble run' crossing the field. These are the kinds of opportunities that our play team love to see at playtimes from our @OPAL_CIC!
