Well played, University of Manchester, on appointing the most creative, impactful, and generous team player. Fabulous news, Professor Thomson. @LeedsBeckettCLT are absolutely delighted for you!
I guess it’s official. In July I’ll be joining the University of Manchester as Professor of Hybrid Learning in the role of Director of Flexible Learning. Exciting times, but also sad to be leaving Liverpool. Two key people inspired me to be here @PickfordRuth & @ProfSallyBrown 🙏
We’re growing our team! If you’d like to find out more about us or about the role have a chat with our wonderful Head of Educational Development, Georgi Sinclair, [email protected]. Outline at: https://t.co/SdRcumqzR4
We have 2 exciting Educational Developer roles available in @LeedsBeckettCLT, the fab team I work in. 1 perm, 1 fixed term (1 year). I am biased but it is an amazing team to be part of. https://t.co/gbaN3Wtlh7 #LTHEchat#HEA
Thank you @tundeva it was wonderful meeting you and so many colleagues focused on student engagement @LivUni. You’re very welcome to @LeedsBeckett@LeedsBeckettCLT any time to continue the discussion. Congratulations to @LivUniCIE on what looks to have been a fabulous conference!
@LivUniCIE Indeed, and @PickfordRuth will be hard to follow. I have only heard super praises for her keynote! It was pitch perfect delivery of what was promised: systematic analysis & reflection with stories & emotions of teaching appealing to the whole university community of educators.
...what counted for me today was being made to feel so incredibly welcome. Thank you so much to @LivUniCIE@digisim and the University of Liverpool. You are developing something very special. #livUniLTConf
“There’s a big difference between what’s counted and what counts, but they are related” amazing and inspirational keynote by @PickfordRuth#LivUniLTConf
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, supported and attended #CLTdeap19 and Prof. Sue Smith’s inaugural. We could not do it without you. You make it special. Keep sharing, talking and working together.
@ProfSallyBrown@BCUVC@NTF_Tweet A quite extraordinary event on many levels. I feel .... changed. Thank you to the amazing @ProfSallyBrown and the generous, thought-provoking and engaging National Teaching Fellows #antf for giving me the space to think and the seeds to grow
To all my colleagues in CLT and @becksell2001 whose quick mind keeps me on my toes; @Sallybogg and all my past students from @leedsbeckett who are changing the world; Sue Smith, Kate Grafton and the women in every corner of LBU who inspire me - thank you! Humbled. Happy #IWD19
It is a privilege to work in @LeedsBeckettCLT under @PickfordRuth 's direction. She leads the team to be the best it can be, by being a team and working together. I have never felt so supported & encouraged to be the very best version of myself and aim high. #IWD19#IWD2019
FULL TIME | Moors 2-1 @khfcofficial
A massive win! A brilliant, gritty and polished second half display earns Moors their first win in six league games. Ryan Hall got the winner shortly after the break.
A timely reminder that there are those who can talk-the-talk, those who are able to walk-the-walk, and those who are knowledgeable enough and courageous enough to know that in some educational contexts only a pink tutu will suffice. @ProfSallyBrown turning everything on its head.
A wonderful surprise and a wonderful opportunity to compare all things Australian v UK first-year-experience-related. Could have listened all afternoon to @kjnnelson - a real treat
As we launch into the new academic year just a couple of things to check. See it as a support to do it right rather than a barrier to stop you doing it at all. We, along with @BeckettLibrary and @Beckett_IT are here to help.
I’m sure there’s a delicious metaphor in here about the tree of knowledge, raw ingredients, the hand of an expert, extracting the juice, and over a high heat mixing with all things naughty and nice @ProfSallyBrown but I’ll just say what I think is most important.. you are kind!
One of the best things about working in a university is being able to learn with and laugh alongside brilliant colleagues who are generous with their ideas and not afraid to take a punt. If working in H.E. is dull we’re doing it wrong...
When you see something and get a slightly crazy idea and share it with @PickfordRuth. It suddenly doesn’t seem quite such a mad idea. It’s good to indulge in fun every now and then. HE can be a little dull and grown up sometimes.
It has been a treat to be part of this @AdvanceHE Deans’ Development Programme and to spend time with such inspirational people. Many thanks to every single participant and to my fellow facilitators for a thoroughly uplifting and enjoyable experience.
@gcouros and we can’t engage students; students can only engage themselves. What we can do is create the conditions where students are more likely to engage. https://t.co/Tisu2qkiNi
Let’s be clear about the value of what we’re asking students to do, remove barriers, provide opportunities... and let them get on with it. https://t.co/vLkBRKKJtT
I believe ‘students won't do it unless it's for a grade' is a self-perpetuating myth.
Students are looking for purpose, relevance & connection. Most students simply want to know their efforts are a part of something bigger than themselves. They want to know their work matters.
