@CovingtonEDU @maci_ca Yes, at my new district this year, I asked if we did standards based or traditional grades. A colleague said well, we do standards based mostly, but we just give regular grades for them. Yeah. There's zero SB grading going on. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it.

@CovingtonEDU @maci_ca This is precisely the reason that standards based assessments are a better indicator of growth and learning. If they struggle in the beginning of the period, but work to learn the content properly, they KNOW the standard at the end of the period & should be recorded as such.

@trussleadership I keep saying "WHY are we giving grades anymore anyway?! Why don't we just teach them and let their only grades be the scores from whatever type of testing we do, beginning, middle, and end of year?" At this point, HOW is everyone not using standards based assessments yet?!?
