@Ackermanfnz I think it's because in most countries, you watch movies in English with subtitles. German dubbing, however, is relatively good (at least compared to other European countries), so most people grow up watching in German.
@ecto_fun Two reasons:
1. Filmmakers are worried that "too emotional" or less subtle music might sound childish.
2. Before recording, composers create orchestral mockups on PC. Certain orchestrations work better as mockups than others, which is why you now get a lot of fast strings etc.
