@JueDionneL@AnnaK_4ever@tennisabstract Interesting one, because no one seems to be quite sure when his 300th win was. ITF says he is 307-161 on tour-level, ATP says he is 304-161, and TennisAbstract says he is 300-160
@TickTockTennis I've been reading through it for the past few days and they have definitely been interesting! However, I wanted to give some more detailed feedback on it and I wasn't sure how - is there any way I could contact you?
@Hiikamaaru_@AnnaK_4ever The WTA went way too far, because only 2 (maybe 3) top 30 players can enter 250s, meaning they pretty much only play opponents outside the top 50 (depending on entry list, could be top 100 even) until the final. Players between 21-30 can even play more 125s than 250s in a year
@AnnaK_4ever (cont.) Of course not every 250 has a top-10 player (and for top 20 it does look a bit better), and of course there is an issue with awarding prize money to top players who don't always want to put too much effort in playing, but barring top players from 250s seems very extreme
@AnnaK_4ever I think it's also that Gaudenzi "thinks" top players are better than playing in 250s, even though nowadays pretty much anyone can beat anyone (Sinner aside, Alcaraz a bit less but too), like top-10 players have won around 10 250s in 2024+2025 (out of 60?) but only 3 on hardcourt
@BenRothenberg It's not a record (Lendl beat McEnroe 7 times in a row in 1981-1983 all while being ranked lower) but it's definitely tough trying to find players who have done it, couldn't find any big 3 and Lendl-McEnroe was also the 1st (and only) I was able to find for men
@Anna_Niezgodzka@sebsharfam2 Only 1 of them (only the highest-ranked) can make WTA Finals "as GS champions" if theyre all out of the top 8 - 2 of Iga Coco and Keys would need to fall out of the top 8 for that to happen, but it's still possible
@BenRothenberg Fairly similar to the bottom section (Rublev to Alcaraz), where Rublev, Auger-Aliassime, and Alcaraz are the only players inside the top 100
@MichalSamulski@DartsTennis Both entry lists (ATP/WTA) were released on https://t.co/H6ce8TAdA0 including alts; Opelka, Brooksby, Ofner, Ruusuvuori (and L Harris as high alt) using PR for ATP, Kvitova, Cirstea, Burrage, Wickmayer (and Juvan) using SR for WTA
@Big3Tennis WADA appealed for a suspension of 1-2 years as reported by themselves on https://t.co/k3mXn1EgZf because that's the norm with no significant fault or neg. Further research towards the hearing probably showed that the initial verdict was more correct
@DanMartin86 I get your logic here but not sure I'd agree-especially with Eurosport's recent decisions also in mainland Europe (moving to HBO/MAX) lots of sports are getting more expensive and less accessible, I dont think its necessarily just cycling, though cycling might suffer the most
@BenRothenberg@the2ndserve Think the most gripping part is that no other player wanted (or couldn't) attend the sessions at AO; they say a lot (pos or neg) but in the end no one else is willing to ask questions
