Chris Salvatore was 31 when he met the woman living across the hall from his apartment in West Hollywood. Her name was Norma Cook. She was 89 years old, lived alone, and what began as a simple introduction between neighbors slowly grew into an extraordinary friendship.

He invited Norma and her beloved cat, Hermes, to move into his own apartment.

For the rest of her life, Chris helped care for her alongside hospice nurses and caregivers, making sure she could spend her final months surrounded by comfort, friendship, and the home she didn't want to leave.

Norma passed away in February 2017 with Chris by her side. Their story became a reminder that sometimes the people who become family are the ones who simply choose to be there when it matters most.

New York City’s socialist mayor is moving ahead with government-run grocery stores, and yes, they plan to require some form of identification.

Officials describe it as a “library card-esque” system to make sure the discounted food goes to New Yorkers and to stop people from bulk-buying and reselling.

So the same political movement that treats voter ID as an unforgivable sin has no problem asking for ID when taxpayer-subsidized bananas are on the line. but…., Isnt ID’S racist?????

Arthur had spent almost four months at the shelter without letting anyone get close. Whenever someone stopped in front of his kennel, he usually moved to the back wall and waited for them to leave.
The volunteers could feed him and clean around him, but nobody had earned his trust. Then a seven-year-old boy named Eli started coming in every Saturday with a children's book under his arm.
Eli never brought treats or tried to call Arthur over.
He sat cross-legged outside the closed kennel, opened the book across his lap and read out loud in a sott, steady voice.
At first, Arthur stayed on his blanket at the back. He watched the boy from a distance, listening without moving any closer.
Eli never stared at him or reached through the bars.
He just kept turning the pages, week after week, as though Arthur was allowed to listen without being asked for anything in return.
Slowly, the dog began staying closer to the front of the kennel. He still kept his distance, but he stopped disappearing to the back every time Eli arrived.
One Saturday, halfway through the story, Arthur finally stood up. He took a few careful steps forward, paused and watched the boy finish the page.
Ell glanced up and smiled, then went right back to reading.
He wanted Arthur to know the choice was still his.
Near the end of the book, Arthur walked all the way to the closed kennel door for the first time. He stopped behind the rigid metal bars and gently pressed his nose against them.
Eli lowered the book onto his lap and slowly placed one open hand flat against the outside of the kennel.
His fingers stayed on his side of the bars, and Arthur stayed safely inside.
For a few seconds, neither of them moved.
Arthur sniffed the air between them, then gave the metal bars one small lick directly across from Ell's hand. The boy smiled and quietly whispered, "There you are."
Nobody in the shelter said a word.
Arthur wasn't adopted that afternoon, and Eli didn't suddenly become the only person he trusted. But from that day on, Arthur stopped retreating whenever someone sat quietly outside his kennel.
The volunteers had spent months trying to show him that people could be safe. Eli had simply given him enough time to decide it for himself.

The manager of a grocery store kept seeing the same shopping cart sitting in the far corner of the parking lot every morning.

Nobody ever used it.
Every evening an employee pushed it back into the cart bay.

Every morning it was back in the exact same spot.
After almost a week, one of the overnight security guards decided to check the parking lot cameras.

Around 2:13 a.m., a skinny stray dog quietly walked across the empty lot.

He didn’t go near the dumpsters.
He didn’t look for food.
He walked straight to that old shopping cart, curled up underneath it, and went to sleep.

When it started raining a few minutes later, the cart kept most of the water off him. That little piece of metal had become his shelter. The next morning, instead of moving the cart again, the employees left it exactly where it was.

Someone added an old blanket underneath.
Another left a bowl of fresh water nearby.
A customer donated a proper dog bed a few days later.

The cart is gone now.
Not because they threw it away…
Because the dog doesn’t need it anymore.
