Cape Gentleman got injured last year in the Randox Grand National
This is his story, and what life is like for the horse now in America
Thank you to all at Leahurst Equine Hospital
@loulahoula@AintreeRaces There’s an argument to be made about putting horses “in such danger in the first place.” But there’s a lot more to it than that, as in any sport, and greed, I promise, is not a factor. Very few owners realize a profit. It’s about teaming with a horse who loves the sport too.
@chrisatyeartist@AintreeRaces No, it doesn’t even begin to make up for the others. It’s merely an example of how many of us do love and care for our horses.
@USASteeplechase @MegConn15 And per your statement about Snap giving Merry Maker 20 lbs. in the Lonesome Glory G1, how’d Snap do at Far Hills at equal weight?
@AtTheRaces@jhanlonracing@FarHillsRace Don’t get hung up on a name. No one pretends the American Grand National is like the English. Though it’s America’s richest jump race, it’s not our most challenging. Send your horses over and try the Maryland Hunt Cup. Americans have won at Aintree a lot more than you have here.
@flake_jeremy @jhanlonracing@cape_gentleman I’m Cape Gentleman’s owner and I wrote that, so back off of Shark. If you have a problem with me saying something nice about my horse, you can take it up with me. You okay with that?
"Only way that horses win is if you sit there and spend time with 'em. Show 'em that you're tryin' to help 'em. Love 'em." ~ Secretariat’s beloved groom Eddie Sweat, born on this date in 1939
