Core physiological rationale he offers
He proposes that the reduced clotting capacity serves the transition from fetal to neonatal life:
•Birth itself is an inflammatory process. Lower vitamin K-dependent clotting factors help maintain a more fluid blood-flow pattern, reducing the risk of unwanted clotting, stasis, or “sludging” during the stresses of labor and delivery.
•This fluidity may facilitate the free circulation and distribution of stem cells through the vascular circuit at a critical developmental window.
•It supports the rapid normalization of vascular pressures and the remodeling of cardiac structures as the newborn shifts from placental to pulmonary circulation (closure of fetal shunts such as the ductus arteriosus and foramen ovale).
In his view, artificially flooding the system with a large pro-coagulant dose disrupts these processes. He specifically links the injection to hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells), circulatory stasis, and subsequent jaundice—claiming that most cases of neonatal jaundice are caused or worsened by the vitamin K shot rather than being purely physiological.
Critique of the risk–benefit narrative and data
Zywiec highlights the high number needed to treat (NNT). He places it around 15,000, meaning thousands of healthy newborns must receive the injection to prevent one case of vitamin K deficiency bleeding (VKDB). He argues this unfavorable ratio does not justify universal administration, especially when safer options exist.
He also questions the attribution of bleeding events solely to vitamin K status. Potential confounders he lists include:
•Labor induction drugs
•Epidural anesthesia
•Maternal immune activation (MIA) during pregnancy
•Maternal diet
•Vaccination during pregnancy
•Other medications
•Preeclampsia and related cardiovascular issues
•Immediate cord clamping, vacuum extraction, or use of clamps
These medical interventions, he suggests, may themselves increase bleeding risk or interact with the newborn’s physiology, inflating the apparent benefit of the shot in observational data.
Preference for alternatives and concerns about the product
He supports oral vitamin K drops (used in some European protocols) as an effective and lower-risk option with essentially no side-effect profile comparable to the injectable form. He criticizes the synthetic injectable preparation (historically AquaMEPHYTON/phytonadione) for carrying an FDA black-box-style warning about severe reactions, including anaphylactoid events (more associated with intravenous use but still noted for the product). In his framing, the large IM bolus is an unnecessary pharmacological overload compared with the gradual physiological rise that occurs with breastfeeding and gradual gut colonization.
Broader framing
Zywiec positions the entire practice as an example of medicine overriding evolutionary design. Because every mammalian species shares the low-vitamin-K state at birth, he views routine correction as treating a normal biological feature as pathology. He ties this to a larger skepticism of institutional medicine’s recent trajectory, arguing that common-sense observation of mammalian physiology has been displaced by protocol-driven interventions.

Carney’s big “AI for All” plan is rolling out, and Hamilton residents are already in the streets telling him to shove it.

How else are Carney and the Liberals supposed to keep up with everyone’s social media, read your texts before you even hit send, and monitor what you’re thinking? You think they’re building these data centres just for “innovation”?

This isn’t progress. This is the infrastructure for total control dressed up as the future.
