Cardinals history doesn't take a break, and because of that, I have become exhausted.

I'm not disenchanted, just exhausted.

Three of my most played live albums growing up were Deep Purple’s “Made in Japan”, “Live at Leeds” by the Who and “World Wide Live” by Scorpions. But today, it’s definitely “Live at the Fillmore” by the Allman Brothers Band.

I shared this on a @b_miklasz post earlier. His posts about his personal life inspired me to do the same.

Then it occurred to me that if I am going to share details on a personal side of my life, I should share them with all the followers of this account.

I'm doing this for my own self-therapy, no other reason!!

Bernie, now it's my turn.

We may be kindred spirits.

I've suffered through severe depression my entire adult life. It was so bad that I was "hospitalized" because I was a danger to myself (I was 20 years-old)

I have worn that badge with shame ever since.

I had a normal childhood, no drama, loving parents, raised with morals, lived a comfortable lifestyle and had no wants that wasn't received.

But along the way, I was in constant worry that I would relapse and that I would be a burden to my family, who I loved and who loved me.

Depression takes many forms, and I learned through many years of counseling, that living with it was better than leaving behind heavy grief and broken hearts.

So I did learn to live with it, how to manage it, and how to avoid the situations that would trigger the worst bouts.

To this day, I battle that bastard. To this day, I keep winning.

My life is far from perfect, but I am happy.

I'm retired. My kids are all raised and successful. The grandkids are my joy. I live a comfortable life.

This path of life is never a given. I learned that time is a thief, and that being a better person on the inside, means being a better person on the outside.

I learned that when it's all said and done, when my ashes are scattered back onto mother earth, that I want to be remembered as a kind and decent man.

Those ashes will carry no notable achievements, no pretense to a life of glory, no statue, no heading in a history book, no name that will carry remembrance to anyone but my family and friends... But what they will carry is, I survived - and I am damn proud of that.

To anyone reading this - My advice to you is simple:

TIME IS A THIEF! Wake up every day and say those 4 words. Go to bed every night and repeat those 4 simple words.

Go out there and live a good life. Be kind to others, help those in need, donate your time, volunteer your resources to a charity.

Make a difference.

Be the person that other people point to and say "I wish I was like them" - because you CAN be that person.

That's part of my story Bernie.... But it's a part that I have never shared, and it feels good to do so.
