@Leon_Schreib SAPS members are operating in and around the Department of Home Affairs in Alexandra, Sandton, soliciting bribes from people who are SA citizens but were born outside SA.
A colleague of mine was put through this disgusting treatment yesterday.
Scandalous.

@Leon_Schreib A colleague refused to pay a R5k bribe to SAPS so was taken to Alex Home Affairs.
Now has to take time off work & get documents to prove she’s a SA citizen.
They threatened to freeze her bank accounts.
She has a SA passport.
All because she wouldn’t pay a bribe.

Today, one of our staff was arrested by SAPS in Alex bcs "she looked foreign" After a failed bid to extract a R 5k fine, she was taken to Home Affairs in Alex.
Now summoned to appear before the DG.
She's a citizen & has a SA passport
Is extortion standard practice?
