Had a nice Friday evening walk yesterday at Binnianea, Cullohill, Co Laois with 25 hikers from Mid-Tipp Hillwalkers. Highly recommended with 6km or 12km options. Next week, the walk is to the Silvermines Hills. All welcome. For info, contact Brid at 086 8071753. @LaoisLoving

Recently visited Coole Park. Co Galway & was sad to see where Lady Gregory’s home once stood. Focus of the Irish Literary Revival, it was visited by Shaw, Synge, Hyde, Yeats & O'Casey. Thoughtlessly torn down in 1941, it would surely have made a huge attraction if standing today

A Twitter follower has sent me 2 contrasting pictures of Kilcooley House, the once proud Palladian Mansion near #Thurles. The 1st picture shows the magnificent entrance hall in its heyday, while the 2nd picture reputedly shows the same area last year. So sad! @DerelictIreland
