On June 1, 2026, Kīlauea volcano on the Island of Hawaiʻi made history.
Its ongoing summit eruption in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park has now produced 48 fountaining episodes—surpassing the previous record set by Puʻuʻōʻō eruption in the 1980s (47 fountaining episodes).
With no signs of this eruption slowing, Kīlauea will continue to rewrite the record books with every new episode.

Video description: A volcano spews bright orange lava high up into the sky. A distant shot shows a tree branch swaying in the wind, as the volcano erupts lava in the distance. A final closer view of the eruption.
Kīlauea Eruption Update — Episode 48 of Kīlauea summit lava fountaining began at 4:40 a.m. HST today, June 1, and is ongoing. This eruption is taking place within Kīlauea summit caldera in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. Precursory lava flows began from the south vent at 5:41 p.m. on May 30 and continued intermittently. Currently, only the north vent is erupting a lava fountain that is reaching 650 feet (200 meters) high. National Weather Service has issued an ashfall advisory for the areas to the southwest and northeast of Halemaʻumaʻu. Fountaining episodes typically last 12 hours of less, but ash can remain in the air for longer depending on wind and weather conditions. Please stay aware of hazards and rely on official updates from USGS, National Weather Service, and Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. 🎥 Video of episode 48 on June 1. 2026. #Kilauea #Eruption #Lava
A transition to 100% Wind-Water-Solar across all energy sectors in the U.S. requires only 35% of the land used by fossil fuels and biofuels today for energy.
It is current energy that is hogging land.

12 years later!! We deserve better!! Tell MAHA and the FDA you want better regulation for our food and for our families. 🐟🍵🍯🫐
Lower our cancer and chronic disease - causing cesium 134 & 137 to (100 Bq/kg). The US is 24 times higher than Japan (1200 Bq/kg). ☢️
2) We must do better for our kids! Biomagnification and bioaccumulation is more harmful in women and children! 👩👧 Biomagnification means worse over time! 🌊🐟
HEALTH ADVOCACY GROUPS CALL ON RFK JR. AND THE MAHA CAUCUS & COMMISSION TO ADDRESS GROWING THREAT OF RADIOACTIVE CONTAMINATION OF FOOD ☢️

CALL: FDA at 1-888-SAFEFOOD. Tell Kyle Diamantas Acting Director of Human Foods Division to respond to the Fukushima Fallout Awareness Network CITIZEN PETITION filed on March 12th 2013 let him know 12 years is too long to wait FDA must lower the current outrageously high admissible level of cesium-134 and cesium-137 in our food.
This Memorial Day Weekend sign the MoveOn petition! US military folks in Japan & US markets are ‘fed’ food Japan doesn’t allow in their own market!
Take Action: https://t.co/ZXI4Qx7Cog
1) Call FDA at 1-888-Seafood. Tell Kyle Diamantas Acting Director of Human Foods Division to respond to the Fukushima Fallout Awareness Network citizen petition filed on March 12th 2013 let him know 12 years is too long to wait FDA must lower the current outrageously admissible level of cesium-134 and cesium-137 in our food.
2) "Radioactive contamination in our food is absolutely not acceptable. The International Commission on Radiological Protection ICRP issued this guidance to governments in April of 2011: There may be situations where a sustainable agricultural economy is not possible without placing contaminated food on the market. As such foods will be subject to market forces this will necessitate an effective communication strategy to overcome the negative reactions from consumers outside the contaminated areas"
3) WHY? There is no acknowledgement from FDA about bioaccumulation of cesium in the food chain per USDA’s website and no update on Fukushima to FDA’s website since 2023. That year Japan began a 40-year program of dumping radioactive water into the Pacific (including tritium and carbon-14 which cannot be filtered) despite opposition from the scientific community, many governments, and from within the U.S. and Japan. 2023 was also the year FDA lifted all restrictions on food imports from Japan! Now Japan plans to spread 14 million cubic meters of “recycled” radioactive soil and materials around Japan, including in agricultural underlayment, which stands to further impact food exports and is a growing threat that requires stronger action. Worldwide radioactive contamination has continued to increase, and stands to get worse, including inside the U.S. “The push to expand the nuclear industry, whose capacity the Biden administration proposed to triple by 2050, largely with ‘advanced’ reactors that produce more radioactive waste, only compounds these problems. Since the Citizen Petition was filed in 2013, Americans continue to consume food from Japan that is potentially 12 to 24 times higher in cesium than what Japan permits to be sold or consumed there.
Was in studio on Fox 5 San Diego this morning to discuss EPA’s plan, working with all interested parties, to immediately finalize and present to Mexico a proposed “100% solution” to permanently end decades of raw sewage flowing into the U.S. from Mexico.
Thank you to the EPA and @leemzeldin for visiting San Diego and bringing a renewed committment to ending the decades of sewage pouring into San Diego communities. Our local leaders are ready to work with you for swift and lasting solutions.
It's frightening to think that not many people know that September is #ChildhoodCancer Awareness Month & how little research there is into childhood cancers in comparison to others. Most people would falsely assume that Children are a priority simply bc they are Children, but, unfortunately that means absolutely nothing.
