@jacobhunni They do, but the jobs (what the classes advance into at level 30) play the same as the classes they come from.
Mostly.
Arcanist is weird since they can class into both a healer and a dps, though both are pet based classes, which is arcanists thing.

@jacobhunni Oh, also @JoCat105 recently started making a series of crap guides to ffxiv that are a little glib but give solid beginners advice.
He's only got one out right now though for tank classes but its pretty great.

@jacobhunni Honestly, it's fine to go in playing the one that you think looks the coolest. You can change class anytime and your character can unlock all the classes.
Your starting class just chooses the city you begin in, so it's not as big of a commitment as other MMOs. :)
