This doesn’t include cases where a user cannot remember their credentials, such as passwords etc. when deactivating their accounts.

So either you’re being investigated or you’re lying. I even agreed that you have no reason to lie to me. So is it the former or latter?

It’s also worth noting that you wouldn’t be aware you’re under investigation, until you’re under arrest. Just some food for thought.

So I took a look at the X terms of service, and something interesting came up. Why wouldn’t you be able to deactivate your account?

Legal or Preservation Holds:

Law enforcement can request data preservation (e.g., under the U.S. Stored Communications Act) so evidence isn’t deleted during an investigation. X preserves snapshots in those cases and may withhold content or data in response to valid legal process.

Preservation demands (s. 487.012) and preservation orders (s. 487.013) require a person (e.g., a platform) to preserve computer data that is already in their possession or control. These are time-limited (21 days for a demand in domestic cases; 90 days for orders or foreign-related demands) and require reasonable grounds to suspect an offence.

This means you’re probably on a list and you’re likely under investigation.
