We offer 14-17 year olds the chance to gain #SkillsForLife, make friends and have life changing adventures! Instagram & Facebook - @PinkPanthersExplorers
Day 1 (and setup the day before). We had some sun while we put the first tent up, then that was it. If there wasn’t rain coming from the sky then it was tears coming from our eyes. The next day all the Explorers arrivedl, getting their tents up with most of their kit staying dry!
Sandcastle! The weather was nice so we took a trip to the beach to build the biggest sandcastle we could. Everyone had fun digging as much as they could and luckily the tide didn't come in too.
Taskmaster! Just like the TV show, we had a whole bunch of daft challenges to complete. From moving a ball without your hands to making the worst sandwich and then eating it. The leaders were more than happy to watch the mess unfold!
Cramond Island Camp. We spent the night on the island having a look at some of the creepy buildings and having a fire too. We all made it back to the mainland in the morning once the tied had moved back out.
Catapults! We got the Explorers to test their pioneering skills to see who could send items the furthest across the park. No strangers were hit, however there was a few happy dogs with all the tennis balls being launched
Fraser’s a fully qualified bus driver! As part of unit development, we put our leaders on training courses to improve and develop our skills so we can provide better opportunities for our Explorers! Thanks to @ScoutsScotland, @sesscouts & 23rd Craigalmond for funding the training
International Food Night! 🌍🍕🌮🍔🍣 On Monday, we set the Explorers loose in Tesco where they had a budget of £10 per group to come up with a meal from a country that they picked out of a hat. There was some good cooking and some not so good.
A big congratulations to @EwanKnightMSYP our MSYP and Explorer Scout Leader from @PinkPanthersESU in Edinburgh, who has been re-elected as the Deputy Convener for @OfficialSYP's Sports and Leisure Committee for the second year in a row! 🎉
The countdown is on until Summer Camp 2022! We’ve got 125 days before we make our way to Cladich Farm for an adventure packed 10 day camp.
The leader team went up and visited to plan out some activities and where we’re going to camp. It looks amazing!
Board games! ♟🧩 We brought it back to basics and decided to have a calm night, many of the classics were out as well as real life naughts and crosses… there was varying success to that!
Talent Show! 🤹🎻🎼🎹🎤 We hosted our very own show where our Explorers demonstrated some amazing skills. From singing, piano playing, magic tricks, skateboard… there was something for everyone. https://t.co/QZljtqFraE
Casino night! This Monday the leaders set up their own casino for the Explorers. Poker, roulette and spoons were the games on offer, with some of the rules being a bit dodgy… We even had our own mocktail Well done to Francesco on winning.
The house always wins!
Military Skills Camp! We took a trip to Nine Acres for the weekend where Rory taught us all sorts of useful skills that can be transferred into many settings. We even had a night hike with some surprises along the way! It was great fun.
To celebrate Burns Night we met up with Cramond Explorers to have a ceilidh! We even managed to squeeze in time to pipe in the haggis, where we had more than enough for everyone. (Thanks to the chefs). We’re gonna need a bigger hall next year!
Speed Dating/Friend Making! We started the term off with some ice cream and snacks, answering questions to help us all get to know each other. Fun fact, Explorers can’t actually eat that much ice cream.
We’ve been busy this month, so far we’ve; been to the Gang Show (well done Tara), done some crafts for a poppy display, had a fancy dress dodgeball game, took part in Zumba, and so much more!
