#ONStorm#ONwx ⚠️ Flash Freeze Risk Tonight 🧊
If you’re heading out on the roads tonight, please take it slow as icy conditions are expected to develop once temperatures plunge well below freezing over the next few hours.
Many areas climbed above freezing today, which softened earlier snowfall and left slushy patches behind. As temperatures continue to fall, any leftover slush will freeze quickly and create slick, icy spots that may catch drivers off guard.
The temperature drop will be more gradual, spreading out over several hours. Because of that, we aren’t expecting a major flash freeze that would reach the threshold for an Environment Canada warning. Even so, the impacts will still be felt on untreated roads and sidewalks.
By early Monday morning, many communities will wake up to temperatures in the negative teens, and the wind chill could make it feel close to minus twenty in some areas. If you’re heading out early, make sure to bundle up because it’s going to be a sharp change from today.
And if you haven’t cleared your driveway or walkway yet, now is definitely the time to do it before everything hardens and becomes much tougher to shovel.
