I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to go through our days assuming people know they matter to us. But they don’t always. A simple “I’m glad you’re here,” “you crossed my mind,” or even just showing up can land in someone’s heart in a way we’ll never fully see. It can be the quiet proof they needed that they’re not invisible.
I go by this monument quite often
Very disrespectful behavior
The Battle of Iwo Jima monument in Quantico, Virginia, suffered hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage after a man beheaded one of the statues
Sometimes it comes back as trust from someone who barely knows you, or as calm in a moment when you need it most. Other times it just softens the way people move around you without anyone ever naming it. more often it’s just the quiet proof that the world still responds to how we treat it.
