Barcelona lost Messi in 2021 because they were โฌ1.2 billion in debt and La Liga slashed their wage cap from โฌ347 million to โฌ97 million. The emergency fix was fielding children. Four years later those children won La Liga, and one of them carries a โฌ1 billion release clause.
The cap crisis meant Barcelona couldn't register signings. Academy kids on entry-level wages were the only players they could afford to put on the pitch. So Lamine Yamal debuted at 15 years and 9 months. Pau Cubarsรญ debuted at 16. Gavi, Pedri, Balde, and Casadรณ all got minutes a healthy club would never have risked on teenagers.
Then the desperation play turned out to be the best roster strategy in football. Yamal joined at age 7 from CF La Torreta, a local youth club. Transfer fee zero. Barcelona turned down a โฌ250 million bid for him. He made 106 senior appearances before turning 18. Messi made 9.
The cap math makes it even better. Real Madrid operates with a โฌ761 million squad cost limit. Barcelona's is โฌ432 million. They won the league anyway, because half the starting lineup was developed in-house at academy cost.
Messi's final Barcelona contract was worth over โฌ500 million. His replacement cost nothing.
Those 11-year-olds in the video are the next batch. A pipeline that began as a bankruptcy workaround is now the entire plan.
The only way to pull off a Sunday afternoon โquickieโ with their 8-year-old son in the apartment was to send him out on the balcony with a Popsicle and tell him to report on all the neighbourhood activities.
โThereโs a car being towed from the parking lot,โ he shouted.
He began his commentary as his parents put their plan into operation:
โAn ambulance just drove by!โ
โLooks like the Andersons have company,โ he called out.
โMattโs riding a new bike!โ
โLooks like the Sandersons are moving!โ
โJason is on his skateboard!โ
After a few moments he announced,
โThe Coopers are having sex!!โ
Startled, his mother and father shot up in bed. Dad cautiously called out,
โHow do you know theyโre having sex?โ
โJimmy Cooper is standing on his balcony with a Popsicle.โ
1. What Gmail's defaults are actually optimized for
Gmail is free, and free means the defaults are built for the broadest possible audience doing the simplest possible thing โ check inbox, read, reply, done. Nothing about the default setup expects eleven years of accumulation, aggressive marketing emails, or an inbox that's become the de facto filing cabinet for someone's entire financial and professional life.
So everything lands in one pile unless you tell it not to. Storage silently fills because cleanup isn't automatic. Search works fine for last week's email and struggles the moment there are 40,000 of them. None of this is broken โ it's just tuned for a mailbox six months old, not eleven years deep.
A guy had Gmail for 11 years and 41,000 unread emails.
His inbox was chaos โ promotions mixed with invoices mixed with actual important stuff, buried three scrolls deep. Search never found what he needed on the first try. Storage kept warning him he was almost out, on a free account he swore he'd never filled up.
His sister works in IT support. She opened his Gmail on his laptop over coffee. Eight taps and two filters later, she closed the laptop.
His inbox showed maybe 12 emails that actually mattered that day. The rest sorted themselves โ automatically โ into folders he didn't have to build by hand. Storage freed up almost 3GB without him deleting a single email he cared about. Search started finding things instantly.
"Eleven years," he said, "and I never touched a single setting."
"Nobody does," she said. "Gmail ships built for 'good enough on day one,' not for eleven years of your actual life piling up in it."
Here's everything she changed.๐
THIS IS EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH SOUTH AFRICA.
As encountered by Zandile Tshangane.
So this morning my niece got mugged, hit and almost rapped on her way to school by two boys. We then went to the police station to report the case so one of the guys asked us to sit down and we will be assisted.
This lady (on the picture) then comes and yells, why are we sitting where we are seated? We tried to explain but her attitude was already on steroids.
We proceed to explain why we were there and she said she will not open a case with out the suspects names, surname or ID number.
We asked for her name and she said โAndaziโ (I do not know)
So when I am being mugged I should ask them thieves for the details?
Carletonville Saps you can do way better than this.
A woman shared one last kiss with her boyfriend before his flight took off. Just seconds later, her husband walked into the airport carrying flowers, completely unaware of what had just happened. The entire airport was left in stunned silence. ๐ณ๐
