@closet_EX @violet_octupi Seconded! It’s a great place for relatively cheap ($20 ish) prescription sunglasses for me (I refuse to buy anything more expensive because I tend to loose them).
@MaddyDucharme@thepugdc This looked like a lot of fun, but I got there, and the place was way too packed to put any more people, I saw many people turning away for the same reason. Would love to attend one of these in the future, if it could be at a bigger venue.
@petan_ethersen Not sure about Frontrunner specifically, but if you’ve heard of an app called Spot Hero, it can be really helpful for finding a place to park your car for a few days while traveling. I’ve been able to leave my car at various hotels for like $5-7 a day (better than airport rates)
@whitecatprophcy I was the EQP in my YSA for 3 years. The (relatively new) bishop released me shortly after I told him I was dating guys (even though I was still keeping the LOC). I showed up to Sacrament to get released, but it hurt to stay any longer than that. I haven’t been back since.
@therealnta92 Hoping to gain insight from the replies, I haven’t had this exactly happen but I have dodged some old friends before because I just don’t know what to say.
My 93 year old great-grandparents sent this Christmas card to me and my boyfriend this year, and said they are lucky to have two grandsons now. The little ‘s that she added speaks volumes. ❤️ I’m grateful to have some family that accepts me.
@the_bradpad In my experience, some women are willing to consider gay men as housemates, even if they say “women only” on their listings (especially if you are clear that you are asking for special consideration). It also helps if you are easy to find on social media so they can vet you. GL!
Note: I recognize that as a cis white gay man, it’s a privilege to even experience this tension, to have a foot in both worlds. I hope we can move towards having more stories like #brosthemovie but with more diverse type of relationships.
I saw #brosthemovie last night and really liked it! It made me think about the tension I feel between wanting to be part of a larger queer community versus wanting to find common ground with family/broader society. Anyone else relate?
@AddisonDJenkins I’ve been on Vyvanse since high school and for me I feel like it helps me “wake up”, not just physically but cognitively and emotionally (without it I feel foggy and regular tasks take so much focus). It also helps stabilize my mood. Im much more emotionally volatile without it
@easton_matty I was allowed to use my notes and the articles for my assessment (but it was timed) so that influenced how I prepared. I will say, reading for comps took much longer than reading for research! But after it was done I felt much more confident in my grasp of the field.
@easton_matty When I was reading for comps, I made a spreadsheet and kept track of important points from the article (e.g., what it established, how I could cite it, how is related to the topics I study, etc.). I also annotated a ton—I tried to note connections to other articles and make notes
