I just read chapter 107 of #Ennead, and I have to share my thoughts.

⚠️ SPOILERS ⚠️

Seriously, I love this story and this couple so much. As a BL reader, I read to see the couples evolve. If they take too long to form and the story gets boring, I can easily lose interest. But Ennead has such a rich and thrilling story that there's no chance of getting bored.

I was really surprised by Seth's character. Initially portrayed as a bad, cruel, and corrupt being, the public enemy number one who, in a simpler story, would be taken down, he turns out to be incredibly deep. I loved the reflection the writing creates around him : how betrayal and shadows can alter a once upright and fulfilled personality. In Seth's case, it was so destructive that it led him to rule in a cruel way, plunging Egyptian society into chaos and making men violent.

I was deeply moved to see this man, once glorious and feared, suffer immense pain after being stripped of his powers and thrown into the world he had corrupted. It was hard to watch him suffer at the hands of humans, but for me, it delivered a powerful message. I witnessed the fall of a god, whose anger could only be mitigated by facing the consequences of his actions. His constant self-questioning is a sign of his inner virtue, which he had buried in choosing to deliberately do evil and hate everyone.

He also needed to meet Horus, this being he made suffer without even knowing of his existence, and who had always admired him with pure and sincere devotion. Horus, true to his image as the bird with an eye in the sky, was able to offer invaluable help to this god who was beginning to fall into self-loathing because of guilt.

I’ve seen people call Seth a ridiculous damsel in distress, or say Ennead is just a "story about rape", but these people haven't grasped the depth of this work. Ennead transcends the mind, taking the reader through reflection, introspection, daydreams, adventure, and intense emotions.

And this chapter 107, I was eagerly waiting for it. Seeing the closeness between these two protagonists, the tenderness of their intimate moment filled with playful laughter and loving looks, when everything had set them up to be enemies who would kill each other, I think it's just wonderful. It’s one of the best enemies-to-lovers stories, if not the best.

And above all, more than just a BL, Ennead is a true dark fantasy, a mythological adventure with a vast universe, a rich plot, diverse characters, and an incredible romance.

I love this webtoon.
