Work in an amazing primary school. DSL, Thrive practitioner and SEN support. Also look after our school goats, chickens and ducks with help from the children.😊
When our window of tolerance slams shut and adrenaline floods the system, the body can’t tell the difference between a real threat and a perceived one. Communication breaks down. Logic, reasoning, and problem-solving vanish. It’s not a moment for deep conversations—it’s survival mode. IQ can drop by 40 to 50 points. We go from Bruce Banner, brilliant and composed scientist, to the Incredible Hulk—reactive and ready to fight or flee. In that moment, don’t debate—regulate. Calm the storm first. Only then can we reflect, repair, and truly reconnect.
