Millions of you have watched the final season of @OITNB and I hope you can’t stop thinking about the characters and their stories.
The last 10 years since my memoir was published have been crazy and instructive, and I want to offer a few reflections.

I am doing my best not to absolutely lose my shit, but how in the fuck do you publish a profile of the leader of Students for Life and not once mention that they want to make birth control illegal?

As a long-time queer I wanna remind folks that safety of trans/queer folks is abt more than "state-sponsored discrimination". It's also state violence like NYPD murder of Kawaski Trawick, a Black gay man cooking at home when he was killed.

"Missouri House Republicans voted to defund all of the state’s public libraries, in a proposed $45.6 billion state budget that will soon move to a vote in the GOP-controlled state Senate"

Thomas did not respond to our detailed questions.
Crow did.
The sale involved Thomas' childhood home, and Crow wrote:
“My intention is to one day create a public museum at the Thomas home dedicated to telling the story of our nation’s second black Supreme Court Justice.”
NEW:
Harlan Crow paid Thomas for property.
The law explicitly requires disclosure of property sales.
Thomas didn't disclose anything.
Here's Thomas' signature on the undisclosed deal.

Not a question we should need to ask. Yet here we are. My guess is that SCOTUS will decline to hear this case.
Note that Dunn's innocence isn't in doubt. The question is whether the Constitution permits Missouri to keep him in prison anyway.

“The art of dependence means accepting aid with magnanimousness, and crucially, recognizing the importance of others. It takes dignity to lean on friends, loved ones, colleagues, and even on the state.”

Much like the sheriffs who "don't enforce laws" -- this is not a "separation of powers" problem. This is about ensuring racist hierarchies. It also reflects the problem of tweaking a system that tbqh required major reform.
I’ve been talking for a while now about preemption efforts by legislators that target democratically elected prosecutors, mayors and cities. They are often Black officials minority-majority cities and the efforts are meant to shame and diminish.
This is how cops in Uvalde, who stood around while 19 kids were killed, treats one of the victim’s mother. They’ve done more to brutalize parents than to stop an active shooter. They’ll attack a mother with a sign but hide from killer with an AR-15.
