For those playing at home, the conversation about territorialisation in student voice/partnership continues with this fab article from @AidanCornelius@molliedollin +our own @PiperABell. Indeed, let's work together to enable active democratic participation for students.
Such a good team and so happy to see this work out in the world. Thanks to @PiperABell and @molliedollin for making this manifest. Let’s make an ACTIVE and DEMOCRATIC higher education with our students! https://t.co/sQforda7z4 https://t.co/U7AUZartmr #highered#partnership
Humbled to be cited in this exciting new book about academic work with @AidanCornelius for an article I am still so proud of (https://t.co/30zSUseDNU): https://t.co/6YsPUnM795. #phdchat
Excited for the #SVASymposium2022 - huge thanks to @PiperABell@gcrisp01 and team for all the backstage work that made it possible for us to all connect today and tomorrow online!
Thank you @LizWalkleyHall for inviting me! I had a brilliant time speaking with library leaders at the #EMCconference2022 today. So much possibility for student partnership in the heart of the uni - I can't wait to see what happens next!
Tracey Hanshaw: "Society had told me my whole life, as a blackfella, that I wasn't good enough, I wasn't smart enough ... I was never taken seriously or respected for my knowledge ... I have expertise, but not that paper to be respected for what I know." #SVASummit22
Anissa Jones: "Students still saying I did this for a semester and that was it" – universities remain severely deficient on sustained value and role for Aboriginal ways of knowing and doing across the curriculum. #SVASummit22
(Cont'd) Alternative pathways to university which acknowledge Aboriginal peoples' way of knowing are absolutely essential; some in the sector are doing this work, others not so much – such an important space for access and recognition of longest standing knowledge systems.
Such excellent and valuable sharing of lived experience during the #SVASummit22: challenges for Aboriginal students including the responsibility to teach non-Aboriginal people about things they should learn for themselves. Powerful session facilitated by the wonderful @shazza9900
