No shot at re-signing Lowe, yeah, figured that.
But if they are in playoff contention at all, the ONLY way that this org can consider trading him is if they get a current MLB player, with All Star potential, w/ multi years of control in return.
Think Bryan Baker from Rays +
Report: Dan Zangrilli great Pre/Post Pirates host believes Brandon Lowe could still be traded by the Pirates at the deadline.
Zangrilli gives the Pirates virtually no shot at re-signing Lowe to long-term extension.
The MLB trade deadline is August 3rd.

Luis Arraez -- Why? They already have a 2Bman and two 1Bman
LHP Aroldis Chapman -- Great, get him
1B Willson Contreras -- why? They already have two 1Bman
C Ryan Jeffers -- Great, get him
3B/1B Isaac Paredes -- why? He's so mediocre
LHP Foster Griffin -- Great, get him
MLB trade deadline candidates (updated) per @JeffPassan and @kileymcd

@rieder79@JMackey_PGH Probably already have. But the Meta, like most teams, will assume a seller's market and will hold out assuming they'll get better offers closer to the deadline
@GMBCSuperfan@BurghB17 I would also see opportunities for Mangum to play a lot of LF & CF and let Reynolds or Cruz DH when someone else needs a day off.
So much more roster freedom without Ozuna.
@GMBCSuperfan@BurghB17 Ok. So you've got to squeeze Reynolds, Cruz, Valdez, O'Hearn, and Horwitz into 4 defensive spots + DH. Who are you DH'ing? Horwitz?
@rtjr Brian, he's a human being. He's having a rough patch in his career, and unlike everyone else pretty much ever, it took him 2+ years for that first one.
He'll get it straightened out. Odds are, he's the Skenes we all expect in the 2nd half
@KodyDuncanPGH Davis is swinging a good bat recently as well. Not sure why you're fighting this fight right now. Endy isn't going to start 6+ games per week.
@nickygsmustache Only way to judge a coach is by progression / regression.
Hitters, 25 to 26:
⬆️⬆️Reynolds
⬆️Horwitz
⬆️⬆️Cruz
⬆️Gonzales
➖Triolo
➖Davis
Pitchers, 25 to 26
⬇️Skenes
⬆️Ashcraft
➖Keller
⬇️Chandler
⬆️Mlodzinski
⬇️⬇️⬇️Santana
⬇️Mattson
➖Ramirez
⬆️⬆️Sisk
⬇️⬇️⬇️Lawrence
@northsiden0tch Pirates are 12-0 when Nick Gonzales don’t start that’s the real fuckin problem he was the reason for the loss tonight as well it gets so fucking old with him
@TheBuccosFan You think Lowe's defense could be better? You don't want to see Horwitz there. As hard as this is to say, the Pirates should look to flip Horwitz or O'Hearn for someone in MLB, on a similar contract / similar service time remaining, but in a position of more need (3B, P, C)
Well, if the Pirates continue to stink over the next several weeks, they ought to get some really nice returns for Lowe. Should get someone of value for Soto. Maybe if they play well over the next month, something of value for Santana and Ozuna?
@nickygsmustache Bullpen guys are just too volatile to give up a lot for either a short-term guy, or like a 7th inning guy. There are also going to end up being a lot of sellers.
Sellers should look something like:
WSH
NYM
CIN
SF
COL
TOR
BAL
BOS
MIN
DET
KC
ATH
LAA
Lot of bad teams this year
