My grandfather stormed the beaches of Normandy. I once asked him what kept them pushing uphill and into the meat grinder, what kept them fighting? His answer absolutely floored me.
“We wanted Hatians to sell fake Gucci at the train station.”
@Horatioyuletide@Clint_Davey1 The outcome was never in doubt. After the breakout their Germans ceded all of France almost immediately, you understand this
Five days after the LA election, Spencer Pratt falls to third place and a woman who hardly anyone voted for in person, Nithya Raman, totally dominated in mail voting to come in second. No one with a functional brain believes these results.
There's something a lot more straightforward and easy to stomach about open conflict than there is about the passive-aggressive and foggy nature of a corporate setting in 2026
@crusade_enjoyer The real understanding is that he did what he did for no reason. Whether the Germans win in Europe or don’t nothing changes. We are at odds with Europe now. Nothing changes minus minus the Eastern Europe being Soviet
250 years of continuously extinguishing the bottom ~2% of men who could not behave produced the modern Englishman and Anglo-American , who from the early 1700s to early 2000s almost entirely created the modern world.
The 2020s are now one of the most inflationary decades in history:
US CPI has averaged 4.0% so far in the 2020s, the highest decade average since the 1980s.
This is more than DOUBLE the average of the 2010s, at 1.8%, and well above the 1990s and 2000s.
Since 1950, the only only periods with higher inflation were the 1970s and 1980s, at 7.4% and 5.1% on average, respectively.
This comes as inflation has been above 2.0% for 64 of the 76 months so far this decade, peaking at 9.1% in June 2022.
By comparison, during the 2010s, inflation was above 2.0% for 49 of the 120 months, with a peak of 3.9% in September 2011.
Inflation remains way too high.
@TMathSports This is like saying back a team/line at any price just bc they’re the favorite. After this move you’d be looking to buy 5/10% lower not at the top of an explosive move. Gains compound faster when dips are bought.
@Clint_Davey1 It makes sense at the end why the entire premise seems ridiculous but you have to make it to the end. That being said it’s not worth it the “payout” and the ending in a way takes away from the movie
As an Iranian with rare unrestricted internet access with Starlink, I must speak:
Iranian families are huddled in fear tonight. This talk of “finalizing” a deal with the Islamic Republic is our worst nightmare.40,000+ Iranians slaughtered — for JCPOA 2.0?
Why abandon the path that was finally confronting the regime?
The Strait of Hormuz was never closed. We struck to end the nuclear threat, crush radical Islam, and stop the massacre of our people. Instead we get a fake deal that achieves none of it. The regime will keep slaughtering Iranians and racing toward the bomb. They don’t honor agreements — everyone knows this.
This is defeat. A humiliating surrender by the side that was winning.
I implore you, @realDonaldTrump, @netanyahu and the free world: reconsider. Most Iranians won’t sleep tonight, glued to satellite TV as many don'thave internet. If this deal is signed, history will record the unprecedented shame of a victor choosing surrender.
Free Iran will never forget. Pray for us tonight
#IranMassacre
I am deeply concerned about what we are hearing about an Iran “deal,” being pushed by some voices in the administration.
President Trump’s decision to strike Iran was the most consequential decision of his second term. He was right to do so, and we achieved extraordinary military results—including destroying all of their missiles & drones and sinking their entire navy.
If the result of all that is to be an Iranian regime—still run by Islamists who chant “death to America”—now receiving billions of dollars, being able to enrich uranium & develop nuclear weapons, and having effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, then that outcome would be a disastrous mistake.
The details are still coming out—and I pray the early reports are wrong—but the fact that Biden’s Rob Malley is praising the deal is not encouraging.
President Trump believes in peace through strength, and his strong leadership has already made America much safer. He should continue to hold the line, defend America & enforce the red lines he has repeatedly drawn.
