La Corte Constitucional en sentencia C-350 de 1994, proferida el 4 de agosto de 1994, declaró inexequible el artículo 2º de la Ley 1ª de 1952, que ordenaba al Presidente de la República renovar anualmente la consagración oficial de Colombia al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.

La Corte sostuvo que, bajo la Constitución de 1991, Colombia es un Estado laico, pluralista y respetuoso de la igualdad entre todas las confesiones religiosas, por lo que una consagración oficial del Estado a una religión específica vulneraba varios preceptos constitucionales. Este candidato es peor que Ordoñez, porque no respeta las decisiones del máximo tribunal constitucional.
