If we were oil independent, if we used 100% of the oil that we needed from California. That alone completely funds state government. Just that one move. Just that one move”

Democrats have been pushing regulations to make it more expensive or impossible to drill in the state, this forces offshore buying

In 2024 alone, the oil and gas industry spent a record $38 million on lobbying in California

Oil interests donated millions directly to candidates and committees. In recent cycles, Democrats received significant portions, sometimes more total than Republicans
