Will Lankshear (21) enjoyed an impressive first full season of senior football, scoring 12 goals for Oxford United despite the club’s relegation from the Championship.

A product of Sheffield United’s academy before joining Tottenham Hotspur, Lankshear announced himself by scoring 23 goals in the 2023/24 Premier League 2 season, earning the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award. He went on to make six senior appearances for Spurs, including three in the Europa League, where he scored his first senior goal.

After a frustrating loan spell at West Brom, where opportunities were limited, the 21-year-old benefited from regular football at Oxford and showed exactly why he’s so highly regarded.

Lankshear is a traditional No. 9 whose game is built around intelligent movement and clinical finishing. He times his runs into the box superbly, consistently finds dangerous positions and has the composure to convert chances when they come his way. He plays on the shoulder of the last defender, attacks the penalty area instinctively and has the frame to develop into a physically dominant centre-forward.

The main areas for improvement are his pressing and physical consistency. Although he possesses the build to lead the line, he can still be outmuscled by stronger defenders on occasions, while becoming more aggressive out of possession would add another dimension to his game.

Having shown he can score goals in the Championship, Lankshear’s next move will be an important one. His profile should make him an attractive option for clubs looking to add a clinical penalty-box striker with significant room for further development.

Consistency has become a defining feature of Ethan Pye’s game.

The 23-year-old Stockport County defender has established himself as a consistent performer through a combination of defensive intelligence, composure in possession and physical presence. A naturally left-footed centre-back, Pye offers a balanced profile, remaining calm under pressure while providing security both on and off the ball.

Pye defends with composure and maturity. He positions himself well, times his interventions effectively and shows good judgement when engaging opponents, allowing him to deal with dangerous situations without unnecessary risk.

Aerially, he is one of the strongest defenders in the division. Winning 4.35 aerial duels per 90 with a 64.1% success rate, he provides a commanding presence when defending crosses, set pieces and direct play. His ability to compete physically adds another dimension to his defensive game and makes him a reliable outlet in both penalty areas.

With the ball, Pye is equally assured. Comfortable receiving possession under pressure, he plays with composure and looks to progress play rather than simply recycle it. His naturally left foot provides valuable balance during the build-up phase and allows Stockport to build attacks with control from the back.

Ryan McAidoo
18 | Right Winger

Ryan McAidoo is an explosive, left footed right winger who is capable of changing games through his pace, directness and quality in the final third.

Comfortable attacking defenders, McAidoo thrives in one-V-one situations and regularly cuts inside onto his stronger left foot. He has an eye for goal but is equally capable of creating for teammates, making him a genuine threat whether he’s shooting or providing the final pass.

His ball carrying is a key part of his game, allowing him to drive his side up the pitch and commit defenders. Around the penalty area, his quick combinations, intelligent link up play help him create space in tight areas.

With his direct style and attacking instincts, McAidoo is another academy player who has all the tools to make a real impact in senior football.
