Uganda’s digital number plate debate goes beyond the cost. The project has paid over Shs48bn in taxes, directly employs 300+ Ugandans and strengthens local capacity.

Cost and accountability questions deserve answers. But shouldn’t we focus on fixing the gaps, improving transparency and protecting the security benefits already in place rather than scrapping the entire system?
