Struggle to me is pointless suffering, challenge is something to overcome. It's a challenge when you know you're different. Suffering wondering why everything is hard is just cruel.
@ShayneChamplin@TweetATherapist Both agree & disagree. Pathologizing is common and unhelpful, but saying "I have ADHD" makes it sound like an affliction, and that can fuel internalized ableism which is a different type of pathologizing.
It depends on how the person themselves views the label that matters IMO
@LisaPiece_a_Pie @TweetATherapist Agree with this explanation. It's a description of the way your brain is functioning IMO, so it IS you. The same way "I'm married" not "I have a marriage," it's a core part about me.
