Those civilian deaths in Minab were not the plan. US targeting still treated the site as an old IRGC compound because the intel was outdated. That is a targeting failure, not a decision to hit a school. Oct 7 was the opposite: Hamas spent years planning an attack on civilians in their homes and took hostages. Iran armed, funded, and trained that project. What they did not plan on was the response that followed.

On Sept 11, 2001, five Israeli employees of Urban Moving Systems were detained after a New Jersey witness reported men filming/photographing the burning World Trade Center from a white van and appearing unusually cheerful or high-fiving. They were Sivan Kurzberg, Paul Kurzberg, Oded Ellner, Yaron Shmuel, and Omer Marmari.Police stopped the van later that afternoon.
Officers found about $4,700 cash (some hidden in a sock), two foreign passports on one man, and a box cutter. The driver, Sivan Kurzberg, told police: “We are Israeli. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are the problem.”They were held roughly 71 days. Some polygraphs indicated deception on questions about intelligence affiliations (Paul Kurzberg initially refused a test, then failed one). The FBI searched Urban Moving Systems’ Weehawken office, seized computers and documents. The company owner later left the United States for Israel. There were suspicions the company may have been used as cover for surveillance of local Arab communities.After interviews, searches, database checks, and polygraphs, the FBI’s Newark and New York divisions closed the terrorism/foreknowledge angle.Internal FBI memo dated September 24, 2001: “Both the Newark and the New York Divisions conducted a thorough investigation which determined that none of the Israelis had any information on prior knowledge regarding the bombing of the World Trade Center. Furthermore, Newark and New York determined that none of the Israelis were actively engaged in clandestine intelligence activities in the United States.”The FBI also told ABC News the investigation “has not identified anybody who in this country had pre-knowledge of the events of 9/11.”No terrorism or 9/11-related espionage charges were filed. They were deported to Israel for visa overstays / immigration violations.That’s the official FBI determination: suspicious behavior and some unresolved intelligence questions, but no finding of prior knowledge of the attacks and no finding that these five were running a clandestine intelligence operation in the U.S. tied to 9/11.

@politej24 @RpsAgainstTrump They were Al-Qaeda, not the Saudi state. Bin Laden was thrown out of Saudi Arabia in 1991, stripped of citizenship in 1994, and ran the plot from Afghanistan after Sudan kicked him out. Those same terrorists also plotted to eliminate the Saudi royal family.

You said you’re not from the Netherlands. From your posts it strongly looks like you’re Belgian. If that’s wrong, just say so.

Belgium was occupied by the Nazis and liberated by British, American, Canadian and Polish forces — not the Red Army.

Belgium also has its own very dark colonial chapter under Leopold II in the Congo.

Personally, I’d close every overseas base and bring the money home.

We wouldn’t even be having this exchange if October 7 never happened.

No country has clean hands. Open the history books on any society and you’ll find plenty of blood.

We agree war is awful. We do not agree on enjoying any part of it. That’s unique to you — and completely contrary to your own bio about opposing oppression and wanting peaceful lives for all sentient beings. My post was about U.S. media’s selective reporting. You call Americans “savages.” Your country was occupied by the Nazis. U.S. troops helped free the Netherlands. Now, as a NATO member, you’re celebrating those same people being put in harm’s way.
