Calling people mediocre while proudly declaring full support for Sharjeel Imam is quite the display of intellectual arrogance. The irony of dismissing a debate you apparently cannot defend. Disagreement requires arguments; arrogance merely requires an audience. Declaring yourself above debate doesn’t make you intellectually superior; it simply spares you the embarrassment of defending your position.

Vote theft. The break down of the 13cr alleged missing votes is all over the place so where is the theft. And how come theft is only where bjp wins? When congress wins then everything is fine? There are plenty of people who can challenge Sharjeel Imam’s views. But why can’t Priyanka? Isn’t that what free speech means? Sharjeel can say what he wants, and Priyanka can call it out. You don’t get to demand freedom of expression for one person and delegitimise another for exercising the very same right.

And forget RW, LW, BJP, Congress for a second. Think as an Indian. What he said was hateful, divisive and deeply unsecular. If you genuinely can’t see what’s wrong with it, the problem isn’t the politics. It’s your moral compass.

Forget RW, LW or any political label. Think as an Indian. Was what he said right? If you genuinely believe it was, that’s truly sad. It was an appallingly hateful, divisive and deeply unsecular statement. You don’t have to support the RW to recognise bigotry, and you don’t get to excuse hate just because it comes from someone on your side of the political spectrum.

It’s genuinely sad that anyone should feel alienated in their own country, and no Indian should have to feel that way. But the labelling works both ways: express a view that isn’t liberal enough, and you’re branded an andhbhakt or a Sanghi. Neither label defines an entire human being. And none of this excuses what Sharjeel said, which was unambiguously unsecular, hateful and incendiary.
