Our neighbor's basset hound, Barnaby, has figured out that if he sits by our back fence and lets out one single, incredibly pathetic howl, my dad will walk over and feed him a baby carrot. The problem is that Barnaby has no sense of time, so now we just hear this solitary, mournful "AWOO" at like 3:15 AM. You can hear my dad sigh, get out of bed, mumble "coming, Barnaby," and shuffle down the stairs with a carrot. It’s been happening for two years.
