Future tar spot mgmt is going to require multiple tools, we are just beginning to identify best options- hybrid resistance, fungicide timing & efficacy, and water management are all important. It is all about the disease triangle🔺️@badgercropdoc@MartinChilvers1@AlbertTenuta
@SouthALPlantDoc@MoCoGardeners I love that description - I categorize plants like " can't tolerate," "doesn't like'" and "doesn't mind" wet feet. Never slinclude "like's" because I guess that gets into mangrove territory.
@MUplantclinic During hot summers tulip trees can develop necrotic spotting due to heat stress. Chlorois and defoliation can occur, but may not harm tree vigor. If dieback is observed, there is a borer of tulip that bores into the base of the trunk you could look for to rule out.
Here is a summary of the awards our Purdue Weed Science Grad Students won at the @NCWeedScience Weed Science Contest. Nice work! I also want to compliment my former grad student, @NDSUWeeds for his excellent work in hosting the contest! @PurdueAg@PurdueBPP
@alabamaED@MUplantclinic@bobkemerait This is a situation of same common name for the disease for different pathogens for either different hosts or geographic locations
Plant pathogen diagnosis is the proper identification of the biotic disease-causing agents, which is one of the most important aspects of disease control measures as well as a fundamental component of successful agriculture.
@EntoMorgan @kimscottokelley @SFRC_UF@UFWildlife "Here we have the O'Briens, the McArthurs, the McCartys, and, the black sheep of the group, the O'Possums"
@EntoMorgan @kimscottokelley @SFRC_UF@UFWildlife Whenever I see "Opossum" written out I immediately say "Oh-Possum." I do the same with Oedipus. Like opossum, Oedipus does not come into conversation that often for me. "Oh-Edipus"
@dsmuelle@MartinChilvers1 Didn't go to a corn maze, but found what looks like some tar spot at the zoo. My son (1yr old) was trying to eat it right after I snapped a photo.
