Me trying (and failing) to show the size of this monstrous echium that is coming into bloom at the Botanic Garden at the moment. A relative of our humble viper's-bugloss only MUCH bigger.
What’s better than plants? Plant presents! The hebe coed was an abandoned plant (😢 ) that I rescued from the dumpster at the apt complex and the echeveria was a cutting I received from a plant pal! They’re very good #plants ❤️🌱
Incredible! This orchid (Laelia superbiens) is called “La Vara de San José” in Guatemala, where it grows in deciduous forests, often on oaks. This magnificent specimen lives in Casa Popenoe, a colonial museum in Antigua. #orchids#guatemala#boyswithplants#laelia#botany
The pansies are surprisingly still out and blooming even though it’s been very warm out for several weeks. I expected them to give up for the season sooner 😂
#Orchids on parade! Took a tour of the @RBGSydney Greenhouses today and the Orchid collection is looking amazing. Wish you could smell the incredible fragrance as well. The Nursery Team is working hard to increase this collection at the gardens. #Orchidaceae
The USA has a lawn-obsession, & as renters, we can’t always tear it out. Keeping some potted #plants around can help local #pollinators & add a splash of color. We’re fortunate to have a supportive landlord & kind neighbors to help us realize our “garden” desires!
@marylolee took this beautiful shot of an adorable succulent - the interesting symmetry is caused by auxin pooling at leaf primordia sites (Thanks PIN proteins!)
