This is the Chess Candidates 2024.
Very, very exciting. 3 Indian players. Hikaru, Fabiano. Abasov the underdog. Firouzja the superstar. And of course, the 2-time winner Nepomniachtchi.
Cannot wait.
The biggest struggle in chess is not endgames, tactics, strategy, or preventing blunders.
It’s what the fuck to play as black when white starts with 1. d4.
Per Magnus Carlsen, chess needs to modernize.
Do we want chess on TV? Do we want the biggest companies in the world to sponsor your favorite top players?
If so, make chess more accessible. Faster. No more 30 day matches and 6-hour games. Use the best commentators. Deliver an exceptional product.
Every child should learn chess. Every adult should learn chess.
Chess teaches kids sportsmanship, critical thinking, consequences of mistakes, and self-confidence.
Chess teaches adults discipline, patience, empathy, and how to control your ego.

In July 2023, for the 1st time ever, my YouTube channel had a female viewing audience of around 10%.
3 years ago, the stats were 99% male, 1% female.
We're up 10x, but we've still got a long way to go in not just accepting women in chess, but also treating them with the respect they deserve. Do your part.
