@RobertWeidner11@TheBrancaShow The fact that there are people willing to deliberately lie to try to get on a jury to vote “not guilt” no matter what evidence comes out is possibly the only reason I’m not 110% behind this.
@ShamashAran I am not sure you can actually claim credit on that one. They were doing an exceptional job of looking stupid on their own. You merely pointed a finger at it.
@ShamashAran@PolitiBunny You could treat being a bad person as being in a binary, but in that case, everyone’s life has content in it somewhere to make them a bad person.
@ShamashAran@ANTHONYBLOGAN@Noatworth Fails on the prongs of reasonableness and proportionality. There is also room to question innocence (can’t start a fight to “self-defense” finish it.
There are ways to fail at getting conviction under law, but most of those require a biased jury, or not pursuing the case.
@ShamashAran I’ll believe you in that. One of my childhood heroes was Isaiah Thomas, who started in that bad neighborhood and worse schools, and pushed harder for his own education than his teachers ever did.
@ShamashAran Hard work and commitment to self improvement has made rich and successful men of those born in the worst neighborhoods and going to the worst schools in the country. Nothing has to hold you back if you want to be better than the circumstances that let to you.
@ShamashAran And cops are not above “we have it but won’t share it” to “it never existed or was deleted” when it goes from “it will convict our target” to “it may convict us”.
@ShamashAran Only flaw I saw was trusting cops more than journalists. Remember that they can and will (and are even encouraged to) lie to you. If they do wrong to you, you have to overcome “qualified immunity), and their body cams aren’t always available to the public, though they should be.
@ShamashAran@Oilfield_Rando This one would be a toss-up on who would acquit faster, a Karmelo clone or a leftist white Karen. The Karen will try harder to make you feel bad about Karmelo going to trial in the first place.
@PolitiBunny@Naropa88 Assuming they want to be good, public-serving officers and not clueless, petty tyrants. Considering the officers here being lackeys of their government and its politics, the odds of that might not be zero, but a mouse could starve on the difference.
