@RealSTLChatter @ahansen314 All credit to them, seriously.

And missing key players in the final. Navarro being Cup tied to Colorado.

They earned it. I'm just over here making bad jokes

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

I think I missed that MLS teams will enter before the 2027-28 season starts. That'll be interesting with preseason form and all.

Side note: not all 27 MLS teams being in gives St. Louis an asterisk, right? Same for 2024 (LAFC) and Nashville (2025) 😅

[Tom Bogert @tombogert]

A weird era of restricted MLS involvement in the U.S. Open Cup ended this year, with all 27 American MLS teams back in USOC next year

On the future and why, for once, short-term financial incentives must be secondary to preserving a historic competition

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

@ahansen314 It was a joke.

But only 27 MLS teams play in the Open Cup. I thought I was being clear with my emoji choice. Nuance lost in text

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

@mlsreacts We're grasping at straws in KC!

It's been miserable. At least the KC Current are rounding into form.

Nashville win the Shield and Montreal leave the door open (again) for #SportingKC to climb out of the basement.

[Nashville SC @NashvilleSC]

The moment we won the Shield 🛡️

"All these players are almost irrelevant to us. Now, we have to start to look at a whole new group."

Jacob Peterson explains how new funds completely changed #SportingKC scouting, landing Andre Luiz, and pitching KC to international stars.

Peterson is a must-listen interview.

Four games to go in 2026 for #SportingKC.

Andre Luiz has scored 7 goals in 9 games. He'll need at least one more for a share of KC's Golden Boot.

Dejan Joveljic has a one goal lead on him right now scoring 8 in 20 appearances.

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

Seattle's draw with Utah and, NC's loss, locked KC into the playoffs on Friday night.

A win at home Sunday vs. Washington would put the Current into a great spot to actually host a playoff game. #KCBaby

[x- KC Current @thekccurrent]

NOW PLAYING: TEAL TIME 🎬

KC Current has officially clinched a @NWSL playoff spot for the 3rd consecutive year 🍿

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

@KCSocWiz They did beat Austin earlier this year. In Austin.

But recent KC results would suggest you are correct.

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

Upgrades for Lasse and Wolff.

Seymour Reid is a new addition to the never ending #SportingKC injury list.

[Sporting KC Communications @SportingKC_PR]

The #SportingKC Player Availability Report for #SKCvATX presented by @saintlukeskc.

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

@RockChalkin It often has. I'd suspect Berg Johnsen is still out, but it sounded like Wolff had to just have two good practices from Wicky's presser.

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

It's gameday!

I've updated my #SportingKC preview with new injury, availability and guys on the verge of yellow card accumulation suspensions.

[KC Soccer Journal @KCSoccerJournal]

Owen Wolff faces his former club, Andre Luiz looks to create on the right, and #SportingKC fights to avoid the Wooden Spoon. Previewing Saturday night:

Seems like a win for the players.

Also, "A grievance around the league's new footwear deal was also settled to honor preexisting deals and withdraw previously issued fines."

Michelle Cooper and Kayla Sharples were known KC Current players that got fined. #KCBaby

[Jeff Kassouf @JeffKassouf]

BREAKING: The NWSL + NWSLPA have settled several grievances, including the High Impact Player rule. The criteria is wiped (still 12% cap charge). ANY player can be HIP. Rodman + footwear grievances settled. Greater $ transparency now required. More @espn: https://t.co/7vZoU1BnwN

[Sporting Kansas City @SportingKC]

¡Sí se puede! 🇲🇽 Zamir Loyo Reynaga is representing El Tri at the FIFA U-15 World Cup in Azerbaijan. Good luck, Zamir! 👏

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

@mlsreacts I do remember that. Feels like a distant, distant dream.

I do believe in the vision longer term, but 2026 is quite miserable

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

Four games left to pull it off.

First tiebreaker is wins. 3 points behind Montreal. #SportingKC

[Blake Aerni @BlakeAerni]

“To be in last place is a damage to my pride” - Emir Karić

Both Karić and Stefan Cleveland emphasized the importance of not getting the wooden spoon as the season comes to an end.

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

@mlsreacts You'd think, but RSL were on a 12 game winless road streak and came to KC and dominated Sporting

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

"In half (15) of its games this season (30), Sporting KC has conceded three or more goals. More than half of those have come AFTER the World Cup break." #SportingKC

[Daniel Sperry @sperrydaniel94]

#SportingKC "took a step back" in Saturday night's 3-1 loss at home to Real Salt Lake. The problem is that the numbers don't show all that much of a step forward:

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

Did you know #SportingKC can win a trophy this year?

Saturday against Austin and the upcoming games against Minnesota United and FC Dallas are critical to the I-35 Cup.

Sure, it's made up. But it's the little things in 2026.

https://t.co/pXRmNvlq3f

[Chad Smith @PlayFor90]

#SportingKC are 2-6-1 in their last 10.

With four games to go, they welcome the next worst team in the West, Austin FC, as they look to climb out of dead last.

Blake also asked Wicky about Cleveland and Karic talking about avoiding the Wooden Spoon. #SportingKC

[Blake Aerni @BlakeAerni]

I asked Emir what Sporting’s goals were in the last four games…

“to avoid the wooden spoon”
