All of this. @NYRangers hockey used to be one of the biggest things in my life, I literally DVRed every game I couldn't watch live well into my 30s. These days, I rarely watch a single @NHL game, and shit like this is why.
The Rangers and the NHL are not for us
Man, it never fails - no matter when I try to check back in on the NHL, everyone is AGAIN just arguing over the relative cleanliness of the latest injurious violence.
Conversations about NHL games are almost never about hockey - because neither are the games. The NHL is trash
This is 1000% the vibe. I am slowly teaching myself to like basketball, the sport is a lot less cool but the NBA doesn't cause me constant mid-level psychic damage
I still do love this stupid sport, god help me, but I had to step back from following every bit of news super intensely a few years ago to be able to continue to enjoy it at all. The relentless fire hose of toxic hockey bro culture BS was starting to chip away at me.
Been watching the NBA playoffs. Did you know that NONE of their biggest storylines or highlights are about horrifying, life-threatening actions that would be criminal assault outside the arena?? "Did he do that concussion on purpose or not?" literally NEVER comes up! It's nuts!!
Hold up you guys I've been thinking... what if capitalism is BAD for sports? Like, if being very rich DOESN'T qualify you to make good decisions about running a thing... wow, this could be rough times maybe
K’Andre Miller should never have had to be in a locker room with Tony DeAngelo but the Rangers showed from day one that Miller’s comfort or safety wasn’t a priority.
Imagine staying a Ranger fan when they keep re-hiring such a complete shit heel and right down the Turnpike an extremely cool team is doing stuff like this
This is where a whole bunch of old white Ranger fans are supposed to get angry because they just want the players to "stick to sports," right? Anyone? Bueller, etc?
Imagine trying to cut together a 1:00 clip of the greatest calls made for your team by maybe the greatest announcer in generations.
Now, which 10 seconds would you cut to make room for some random military propaganda in the middle?
What in that clip showed *anything* about Doc?
Been told #VGK made a call to the NY Rangers to inquire about Tony D'Angelo, as a backup plan, in the event they can't land Alex Pietrangelo.
#VegasBorn
So, if they hadn't accidentally lucked into a 205th overall draft pick being probably the greatest Ranger in franchise history, the Rangers would have been like the Knicks over the last 2 decades, right?
“This is a game. People lost their family members to police brutality and racism and s---. I can only imagine. The way that I’m feeling right now is nothing compared to that.”
—Donovan Mitchell after losing Game 7
