White Tesla
Official Game Rules
1. Introduction & Objective
White Tesla is a fun, observational car journey game designed to make road trips more engaging. Players compete to spot qualifying vehicles while driving.
The primary objective is to accumulate the highest score by correctly identifying White Teslas and other approved vehicles. All occupants of the vehicle participate automatically once the game begins.
2. Game Activation & Duration
• The game automatically begins as soon as there are two or more occupants in the car, the doors are closed, and the journey starts.
• A journey is defined as the period from when all occupants are in the car with doors shut until one or more people exit the vehicle.
• When one or more occupants exit, the game ends for that journey. The score resets for any remaining occupants, and a new game begins if there are still two or more people in the car.
• The game cannot be played if only one person is in the car.
3. Scoring
• White Tesla: 1 point
• Midnight Cherry (per Appendix 1): 10 points
• Octopus Van (per Appendix 1): 3 points
Important Scoring Rules:
• Only White Teslas are standard targets. Other colours or makes of cars are not permitted (except those listed in Appendix 1).
• Calling out a non-qualifying vehicle (wrong colour or non-approved make) results in minus 1 point (−1).
• Parked vehicles are valid and count.
• You cannot call out the same vehicle more than once during a single journey, even if seen again.
• For a call to be valid, at least two occupants must have seen the vehicle.
• If two or more players call out a qualifying vehicle at exactly the same time, they share the point equally.
4. Calling & Announcements
• Players should clearly call out “White Tesla”, “Midnight Cherry”, or “Octopus Van” (as appropriate) when spotting a valid vehicle.
• At the end of the journey, the winner must:
• Announce that they have won.
• State their final score.
• Individually name the losers.
5. Scorekeeping
• On longer journeys, players must nominate one occupant as the official scorekeeper before setting off.
• The scorekeeper may track points electronically (e.g., on a phone) or with pen and paper.
• All players are encouraged to assist the scorekeeper for accuracy.
6. Tiebreakers
• In the event of a tie at the end of a journey, the person who called out the first White Tesla (or qualifying vehicle) of that game wins.
• If a tie persists and the same group plays a second game on the same day, scores from the first game carry over into the second.
• If a tie remains after the second game, it is resolved by playing one round of “White Tesla, Octopus, Midnight Cherry”:
• Like rock-paper-scissors:
• Midnight Cherry beats White Tesla.
• White Tesla beats Octopus.
• Octopus beats Midnight Cherry.
7. Additional Provisions
• All occupants are automatically included in the game, whether they wish to participate or not.
• Rules must be shared with at least one other family you know to help spread the game.
• These rules are fixed and cannot be changed or amended without special request for consideration to the originator.
Appendix 1: Special Exemptions (“Easter Eggs”)
• Midnight Cherry: Allowed as a high-value target worth 10 points.
• Octopus Vans: Allowed as a medium-value target worth 3 points.

Game Spirit: White Tesla is meant to be fun, light-hearted, and fair. Good sportsmanship is encouraged — celebrate big sightings and enjoy the journey together.

If you don’t have Octopus vans in your country, you may substitute for something else. Perhaps Cybertruck?
