Octopus Energy

We believe energy should be better. A better experience for customers, better for the planet, and better value for money.

We are using our Octopus Energy power down hour for sex. We turn off all the appliances and go to bed for a hot session. Three times a week fun uninterupted by tech or bad telly, plus we get a free hours electricity on a Sunday.

@colinwa47152885 Hi there, Power Downs help with balancing the grid and shifting usage out of peak times - we know the rewards might be smaller for those with green tech, but the great news is you're already playing a huge part in using less (and keeping it green when you do!) 🐙

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@Lloydjames84 Indeed you are! 🐙

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@sarah_go_green Mamma mia a 12 hour drive! A cold drink and Abba is the best way to wind down after a long drive. 💖🐙

@dizzy_thinks Hi there, can you DM us your account details please and I'll take a look. 🐙

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@KieranHartley11 Yes, that's right! ☺️🐙

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@crunchvictims The government have said we'll also look at electricity standing charges, but these are more complex to tackle, so changes here will take longer.

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

THE most complained about part of your energy bill is set to disappear. Gas standing charges are being scrapped next year, and we think that’s great news for our customers ⚡

This puts power back in your hands. Gas use across the UK is down 17% in the past year - yet standing charges meant customers didn’t truly see the benefit of their savvy gas habits on their bills.

Without them, you keep more of what you save, and most households will pay less.

@g__j on @bbcnews this morning 👇

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@UkNoWmEGregyP The gov’t plans to remove gas standing charges on household bills in 2027, or as soon as possible after. Once in effect you'll only pay for the gas you use. The govt also said we'll be looking at electricity standing charges as well - but that is trickier so it will take longer.

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@ch33tah88 Hi there, with it just being announced today, there'll be some time needed for suppliers to work out the details and what this'll means for customers (including what it means for those on fixed tariffs). We'll update on this as soon as we know more. 🐙

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@Fido2dogs Yes, that's right! Pop us a DM if you have any other Qs ☺️🐙

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

Seeing replies about people worrying that some will go cold - we really don't want that which is why we've got our Octo Assist fund. It's a £40m support package to help those who need it most keep on top of their bills and stay warm without worrying, including practical help like free electric blankets, standing charge waivers & more. We fight tooth and nail for regulatory changes to bring down Britain's cost of living and will continue to fight for you. If you need support 👇 https://t.co/KWEAeiLBuP

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@osteogenesis In effect, it gives you more control over your bills: use less, save more. The Treasury estimate 60% will save, and projections by Nesta (a research foundation) suggest that 86% of the poorest households will be better off. We think it's a welcome change.

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@Fido2dogs I'm so sorry, I got my tentacles in a muddle. We've extended Happy Hours until the end of Feb - that means you must use two of your banked hours this weekend (or they'll be wiped), the rest will be rolled over 🐙

[Octopus Energy @OctopusEnergy]

@GillDrew2 We’re still learning more about the details, but it looks like the changes apply to mains gas rather than LPG. You can find more info in the govt’s announcement here: https://t.co/0TkOx2eE6l 🐙
