The 14th Amendment doesn’t explicitly say the words “illegal immigrants.” It was written in 1868, long before modern immigration laws even existed. Polls are sensitive to wording, timing, and whether they tie it to the 14th Amendment. The framers meant full political allegiance and permanent ties, not just physical presence — so illegal entrants wouldn’t qualify. Common sense IDIOT. Current polling is at 51% for not allowing children of illegal immigrants birthright citizenship, 49% for it. Pretty much following party lines. I agree with you…..the 14th amendment should be updated to more modern immigration and birthright citizenship laws, to clarify “subject to the jurisdiction thereof”. But we all know that will never happen because Democrats want open borders so that they can cheat in elections and destroy our country. @Hobohoboz
